Hi, i’m lyndsay, founder of neighbourhood skate club

I started Neighbourhood Skate Club in Spring 2021, when I was living in Victoria Park, East London. Coming out of lockdown I was skating in the park every day and began noticing how many new skaters had emerged after a year being stuck inside.

For the most part, these new skaters had two things in common - they were women and they were alone. Seeing all these new faces in my neighbourhood inspired me to find a way to bring all of these solo women skaters together, while at the same time help them improve their skills and confidence on and off the board.

I began with 121 skate lessons for friends, but word soon spread to friends of friends and then complete strangers. Since May 2021, I have taught over 200 women to skate and continue to produce and host events up and down the country.

Outside of Neighbourhood, I work full time for ALL CONDITIONS MEDIA on global and regional production projects, PR, marketing and creative campaigns and events.

I am also a new mum and love helping other mums find their feet on a board, while stepping away from their ‘normal’ day to day, connecting to their body in a new, empowering way after childbirth.

As a survivor of domestic violence and sexual abuse, being able to create a safe space for other women within skateboarding feels momentous. Thank you to every skater, friend, brand, photographer, venue and person who continues to support me and Neighbourhood .
